During the operation, the cyber police exposed 47 people involved in the distribution, creation and sale of child pornography. This was reported on the web portal of Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“Cyber police officers conducted an operation ‘Spiderweb’ aimed at counteracting the spread of pornography on the Internet,” the statement said.
47 people were exposed; 47 searches were conducted and more than 18 terabytes of illegal content were seized during the operation.
In particular, in Kyiv, cyber police officers identified two women who created porn content with the participation of their own children in order to sell it on the Internet. The injured children have so far been placed in rehabilitation centers. Their mothers were detained.
In Odesa, police exposed five locals between the ages of 39 and 45. For the purpose of illicit enrichment, they created more than 300 sites where they uploaded videos and photos of a pornographic nature, in particular, with the participation of children.
Another resident of Odesa region was suspected of child sexual abuse. A 24-year-old man got acquainted with children on the Internet to force them to sexual acts.
In Khmelnytsky region, cyber police exposed a man who sold child pornography. The criminal sold illegal content, which he received from children by blackmailing and intimidating them on social networks.
In total, police conducted nearly 50 searches in 14 regions of Ukraine. More than 18 TB of illegal content was seized. Forensic investigation is currently underway.
47 people were identified, 16 of them were charged with respective crimes.
57 criminal proceedings were opened in connection with rape, committing acts of a sexual nature with a person under the age of sixteen, corruption of minors, import, production, sale and distribution of pornographic items, gaining access to child pornography, its acquisition, storage, production, sale and distribution. Police investigations are underway.
The police have already conducted pre-trial investigations into four offenses and sent indictments to court.
