Chernivtsi region is a record holder in the number of deaths from Covid-19

The Ministry of Health has reported statistics on morbidity of the coronavirus infection: the overall mortality rate in Ukraine is 2.6%. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Health Maksym Stepanov during a briefing that was broadcasted by 112 Ukraine TV channel.

"We have all the data on each region, on almost every hospital. We analyze all deaths without any exceptions. In general, our country’s mortality rate is 2.6%. If we talk about the regions where the largest number of people have died from coronavirus: there are Chernivtsi and Lviv regions, and also Kyiv,” he told.

According to Stepanov, this figure is lower than in other countries. For example, the mortality rate in Germany is 4%, in the US - 5%, in Spain - 9.5%.

The official also clarified that the Chernivtsi region led in the number of deaths from coronavirus infection - 178 cases, the second place belonged to Lviv region - 126 cases and Kyiv ranked third with 102 cases deaths from Covid-19.

As we reported earlier, today, on June 26, Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council reported 1,109 new cases of coronavirus infection.
