More than one million veterans and victims of Nazi persecution will receive financial assistance from the state. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk said this at the meeting of Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers.
"The government has allocated 55,3 million dollars for making appropriate payments. Each person will receive from 23 dollars to 168 dollars. On average, this is 7% more than last year," he said.
As we reported earlier, on May 9, Ukraine marks the Day of Victory over Nazism in the Second World War.
In 2019, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky pointed out that May 9 is ‘our Day of Gratitude’.
“Gratitude for that they left the inhuman Nazi ideology in the past forever. Gratitude to those, who fought against Nazism – and won. And we should be grateful to everybody for the opportunity just to be born and to live,” he stated.
The Head of the Ukrainian state also noted that the war had touched upon every Ukrainian family, and the contribution to the victory that had been made by Ukrainian people was enormous.
