In 2019, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky pointed out that May 9 is ‘our Day of Gratitude’.

Gratitude for that they left the inhuman Nazi ideology in the past forever. Gratitude to those, who fought against Nazism – and won. And we should be grateful to everybody for the opportunity just to be born and to live,” he stated.

The Head of the Ukrainian state also noted that the war had touched upon every Ukrainian family, and the contribution to the victory that had been made by Ukrainian people was enormous.
