Operatives of Ukraine's state border guard found and seized a set of ancient coins in the Mercedes van, as the driver tried to ship them to Italy. The incident occurred at Tysa checkpoint in western Ukraine.
According to the Border Guard's press service, the operatives searched the Mercedes with Ukrainian license plates. They found ten silver denarii, the coins that date back to the Roman Empire; they appear to be about 2,000 years old.
The package with the denarii was among other packages that were supposed to be delivered to Italy.
The experts measure up the value of the coins.
As we reported earlier, Ukraine's law enforcers finished working on the section of the borderline between Ukraine and Russia in Kharkiv region. The Interior Ministry reported that on Thursday evening, quoting Deputy Minister Vadym Troyan. 'In Kharkiv region, the borderline section's length makes 270 kilometers; we equipped 220 of these. This year, all works will be completed. The next stage of the works will focus on the Sumy section. The process began as we coordinate our efforts with the local authorities', he said. He added that the works continue 'despite all actions by pro-Russian forces'. The said works are due to the 2014 decree by the Ukrainian cabinet; the project called 'The Wall' includes construction of trenches and other defense objects.
