Ukraine, UNESCO agree on monitoring parameters in annexed Crimea

The parties are also to enhance international pressure on Russia

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin discussed the parameters of monitoring the situation in the annexed Crimea with Director-General of UNESCO Irina Bokova, according to the former’s Twitter.

Mr. Klimkin emphasized that the discussion was held as part of fulfilling the decision of the executive board of UNESCO. He also noted that UNESCO values the Friends of Ukraine group, created by Kyiv’s initiative.

Previously Ukraine’s MFA called on UNESCO to introduce their own monitoring mission to the occupied Crimea, as grave human rights violations are common in the peninsula.
