On August 29, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Remembrance of the defenders who died fighting for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

This day is celebrated annually on August 29 starting in 2019.

On this day, the lowering of the State Flag of Ukraine and the announcement of a nationwide minute of silence, restriction of entertainment and concert events and broadcasts on television and radio, laying flowers at monuments, memorial signs and burial places of the defenders of Ukraine, as well as holding national-patriotic events are provided.

Also this year, it is planned to install small copies of the state flag on all the graves of the defenders of Ukraine.

At 10:00 am, a nationwide minute of silence will be announced in memory of the defenders of Ukraine, who died in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

For a minute of silence, in particular, work in local authorities, enterprises, institutions and organizations (except for those where a continuous mode of operation is established), the movement of public and private transport will be stopped with the issuance of appropriate sound signals.

 Also, as a token of commemoration of the defenders of Ukraine, on August 29 at 10:00, radio and television broadcasts will be interrupted.
