The building of the pilot concession roads in Ukraine will begin in 2019. The use of them will provide the road toll. The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan claimed this at the interview to Gromadske.

‘We hope that the concession roads Lviv-Krakovets and Kyiv-Uman will be the pilot and it will become the part of the autobahn that is going to connect the Baltic and the Black Sea, the so-called Go Highway from Gdansk to Odesa.  But I remind that the concession roads will be built in parallel to the existing free roads. And everyone will have the choice to drive longer and on the not absolutely comfortable road or to choose the European autobahn but pay for this’, the minister noted.

According to Omelyan, the perspective of the development of the toll roads depends on the economic growth. ‘If we have not 5% but 10-15% of GDP growth then it will induce the business movement, the transportation and the demand on the quality autobahn will exist’ he added.

The President of Ukraine expressed the hope that 618 million of dollars will be allocated for the reconditioning of the roads in 2017. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman claimed that 154.5 million of dollars were allocated for the reconditioning of the local roads from the cash proceeds from the Ukrainian customs house.
