The first consignments of vaccines against coronavirus infection are expected to arrive in Ukraine in two weeks. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Health for European Integration Ihor Ivashchenko during a briefing.

"Ukraine is going to start the vaccination process in February, and the vaccines are expected to arrive in two weeks. Thanks to the joint efforts of the Ministry of Health, the government, and the president, our country is on the list of countries that will be provided with vaccines against Covid-19 under the global COVAX initiative in the first wave of distribution," the statement said.

According to Ivashchenko, 117,000 doses of vaccine will be provided by Pfizer - Biontech. The COVAX letter also confirmed the supply of another vaccine to the Ministry of Health in the amount of 2.1 million to 2.7 million doses (produced by AstraZeneca). The vaccine will be delivered during the first or second quarter of 2021.

As we reported earlier, according to the head of the Department of Epidemiology of Lviv National Medical University Natalia Vinohrad, almost every second resident of Ukraine has antibodies to Covid-19.
