Ukraine to provide humanitarian aid to Lebanon

On August 17, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine made a decision on the provision of humanitarian aid to the population of Beirut that suffered from the explosion as the government reported.

“Ukraine will provide humanitarian aid to the Republic of Lebanon. The proper draft regulation was adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on August 17 during the extra meeting,” the message said.

Thus, the government ordered to provide 8.4 million of hryvnia ($308,000) from the reserve fund of the State budget to the Interior Ministry for the provision of the humanitarian aid to the population of Beirut suffered from the explosion.

The Interior Ministry with the State Emergency Service will pass the humanitarian aid in the form of medicines, medical products and wheat flour.

On August 4, the video of explosions in Beirut, the capital and the largest city of Lebanon, appeared on social media. The media reported that the number of deceased is at least 159 people, about 6,000 people wounded. The city's surroundings turned into ruins.

Later, the mass protests started in the city. On August 9, Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab, under protesters' pressure, agreed to hold early elections in the country.

On August 10, the Lebanese government resigned due to the explosion and its consequences.
