The State Space Agency of Ukraine will pay Elon Musk’s SpaceX $ 1,99 million for the launch of the Ukrainian satellite Sich 2-30. Economic Truth reported citing the head of the agency Volodymyr Taftay.
“The design engineering bureau "Southern" consulted with SpaceX, and SpaceX forwarded the task of adapting the satellite for launch to its division in Germany. So, the total amount of the contract today is $ 1,99 million. This amount is already considering all the technical issues related to the launch of the satellite,” Taftay said.
It is worth noting that earlier, MP Dmytro Natalukha said that the contract price would be $ 1 million. According to Taftay, this amount did not consider additional conditions. In particular, the contract did not consider the cost of creating an adapter and transporting the satellite to the launch point.
"The satellite itself does not make its way into space. It must be installed on a rocket, launched, the satellite must separate from the rocket and fly in the right direction to occupy the desired orbit. The satellite separation system (adapter), which attaches satellite to the rocket and which ensures its firing in the right direction in orbit, is also quite a difficult thing," the head of the State Space Agency said.
Taftay also noted that the contract is elaborated, and there are preliminary agreements. The work will be implemented after the allocation of funds by the Cabinet of Ministers.
On March 5, SpaceX has agreed to launch the Ukrainian satellite Sich 2-1 into orbit. If all technical obstacles are overcome and the relevant ministry does everything in time, the satellite Sich 2-1 will be launched in the year on the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence.
