The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine plans to launch e-sick leave certificate issuance in 2021. This was announced by the head of the Ministry Mykhailo Fedorov, the press service of the department reports.
"The launch of e-sick leave will allow not only to cancel sick leave as a paper certificate, which is an element of the bureaucracy, but also to save doctors' and patients' time. In addition, it is an opportunity to quickly and efficiently pay sick leave without physical contact, guarantee the validity of payments and save public funds," Fedorov said.
The minister explained that the document would not need to be duplicated in paper form.
"This will be a regular form in the online system, filling out which will take several minutes. After that, the document signed with an electronic signature will be automatically sent to other government agencies for payments," Fedorov added.
As we reported earlier, the government planned to introduce the electronic sick leave certificates in April 2020, but its launch had to be postponed due to technical problems and the outbreak of coronavirus infection in Ukraine.
