Ukraine plans to expand the number of the State Emergency Service aviation duty stations and create a unified aviation system with 55 helicopters until 2022. It is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"This is a very powerful aviation squad, which over the years of its existence has fully preserved its infrastructure. Additionally, 4 more hangars were built. It is on this base that we are implementing a project to create an Aviation Security System of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which provides for the acquisition of 55 helicopters until 2022. The first ones already are stationed here. At the beginning of 2019, the State Committee on Emergencies of Ukraine and the National Guard of Ukraine already received two H225 Super Puma helicopters. We also expect 3 more aviation assets this year. Replenishment of the aircraft fleet will continue in the future", said the first deputy minister of internal affairs Serhiy Yarovyi.
The commanders of Kharkiv and Odesa detached aviation squadrons received certificates for the aviation equipment.
On November 24, Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov provided two upgraded Mil Mi-8 helicopters to Kharkiv and Odesa border patrol unit for the inspection of the border during his visit to Kharkiv Border Patrol Unit of Eastern Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
‘Today, we are giving two certificates for modernized Mil Mi-8 helicopters but this is a temporary option. Very soon, the border service will receive new weaponry and new Airbus helicopters, which will be deployed in Kharkiv squadron. Your professional competence will improve een more,’ Avakov said.
