Ukraine is liberal-minded toward the opening of the borders but it will consider the experience of partners and real situation with the pandemic in the territory of Ukraine, as RBK-Ukraine reported citing Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba.
“We are absolutely liberal-minded concerning it but we will consider two factors: the first one – how our partners open and the second is the real situation with the pandemic in the territory of Ukraine. But nobody is going to keep locked away the Ukrainians and there are no such ideas,” Kuleba noted.
He added that the Foreign Ministry will coordinate its actions with the European partners.
“When we mention Italy, the keyword is, of course, ‘inside Schengen area’. In other words, if Italy opens and our immediate neighbors do not open it will be difficult to get to Italy. But, for example, we have opened one pedestrian checkpoint Shehyni with Poles recently,” Kuleba stated.
As of 9 a.m. May 18, Ukraine reports the overall number of 18,616 cases of infection with Covid-19. 535 people succumbed to the disease. Another 5,276 recovered from coronavirus.
