Ukraine will be included into the first queue of the vaccinie supply program (COVAX). Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the WHO Director General said so during the forum focusing on coronavirus-related challenges for Ukraine. Interfax reported that on February 8.
The official marked that the COVAX published the forecast on re-distribution of vaccines among the countries that participate in this initiative.
Ukraine is among these countries, which will be included in the first wave of deployment of COVAX initiative, so as to vaccinate medical workers, elderly people and those in direct contact with patients with Covid-19", WHO Director General said.
He also added that the organization would keep assisting Ukraine in order to stop the spread of coronavirus and to save lives.
Besides, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen added that she had asked EU member countries to offer some of their vaccine doses to Ukraine.
"Thanks to COVAX, doctors and medical staff of Ukraine will get the first vaccines already this month, and millions of doses of vaccine will reach Ukraine by summer. The EU is the largest donor of COVAX initiative, and we're proud of it. I asked other EU member countries to offer part of their vaccines to Ukraine", she said.
