The largest contingent of people sickened with measles spotted in Ukraine, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Liberia, Somali and on Madagascar last year as the World Health Organization reported.
“Almost half of the cases of the measles in the world occur in these five countries,” the message said.
Earlier we reported that 142.3 thousand people died from measles in the world last year, most of them children under five.
In total, 56, 861 people (26,748 adults and 30,113 children) got measles in 2019. 18 fatal accidents were recorded. Since 2017, 117,000 people got sick with measles.
Earlier, the UN reported that 70 percent of all measles cases in Europe are observed in Ukraine.
Besides, all adults will get the vaccines against measles for free. Acting Healthcare Minister Ulyana Suprun reported that another 780,000 vaccines against measles will be bought by Ukraine in 2019.
