Snap parliamentary elections kick off today, on Sunday, July 21 in Ukraine.

At the polling stations, Ukrainians shall receive 2 bulletins: the list of political parties and the list with the people's deputy to be elected on the basis of a simple majority system.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs expects 50% voter turnout.

Over 131,000 law enforcers will ensure the law and order on election day. 47,000 of them will guard the polling stations; over 10,000 will patrol the streets.

Counting process kicks off. What's next? when the votes will be counted and the results will be announced?

  • during 15 days (up to August 5) the Central Election Commission establish the results of the elections;
  • during the next 5 days (up to August 10) the results are officially published in the parliamentarian and governmental newspapers;
  • during 20 days (up to August 31) newly-elected dismiss from the previous places of work and the Central Election Commission registers them as lawmakers;
  • during another 7 days (up to September 7) the Central Election Commission issues them the identity documents of the MPs.

19:40 Police opened more than 40 criminal proceedings into voting offences as of 6 p.m., July 21.

Law enforcers got 1792 reports of crimes. Donetsk region (242), Luhansk region (237) and Kyiv (129) top the list.

The voting turnout in snap parliamentary elections in Ukraine as for 4:00 p.m. is 33,74% voters. This information was collected from 15 constituencies from 199 in the country, as the Cetral Election Commission reported.

The largest voting turnout is in Kyiv region - 38,33%, and the lowest – in Odesa region - 28,47%.

16:45 At 8:01 p.m. after the polling stations closed, 112.international shall publish the results of the three exit polls as of 6 p.m. - the National one, the exit poll of the Socis Center and the Committee of Voters of Ukraine and the exit-poll of 112 Ukraine, performed by the Austrian SORA Institute for Social Research and Consulting along with the Ukrainian Social Monitoring Center.

8:40 Ukrainians abroad began voting. The first polling stations opened at 1 a.m. Kyiv time in Australia, Japan, Korea and China.

40 Ukrainians have already voted in Australia.

Ukrainians in San Francisco will be last to vote for the new Verkhovna Rada: the polling station will open there on July 22 at 6:00 a.m. Kyiv time.
