Ukraine has started shooting of a "Me, Pobeda, and Berlin" film, based on the book of Ukrainian singer and TV presenter Andriy "Kuzma" Kuzmenko. The shooting started in Lviv, as reported by the Lviv City Council.
The film is directed by Olha Ryashyna. Anatoliy Krym and Oleksiy Komarovsky adapted the script to the film format. Oleksiy Terentyev and Vlad Ryashyn are the producers of the film.
The story revolves around aspiring Ukrainian musician Kuzma, who, together with his friend Bard, travels to Berlin by a rusty Pobeda Soviet passenger car. Bard wants to find some German collector and exchange Pobeda for a Mercedes Benz 600SEL in order to amaze his beloved girlfriend Barbara. But the hectic nightlife of the German capital brings the hero dizzying adventures that change his goal, temper his character and help him find his real self.
The filmmakers have prepared a lot of surprises for the viewer, but they have not yet announced who will play the leading role. It is only known for certain that new and unexpected faces will appear in the film.
The audience would be surprised by the reproduction of the atmosphere of the 90s, a wide variety of locations, a constant change of characters, endless adventures, and branded humor. The film will feature original cover versions of Kuzma’s most famous hits performed by popular Ukrainian artists.
Filming will take place in Kyiv, Lviv, and Berlin. The release of the film in Ukraine is scheduled for 2021.
On February 2, 2015, Kuzma died in an accident on the way from a concert in Kryvy Rih. His Toyota collided with a truck.
