The Ukrainian side sent a request for international legal assistance to Iran with a request to gain access to the black boxes of the downed plane of Ukraine’s International Airlines in Tehran, but has not yet received a response. This was announced by Ukraine's Prosecutor General’s Office representative Polina Chyzh, as Interfax-Ukraine reports.
According to the representative of the General Prosecutor’s Office, information was received that the Iranian side allegedly did not transfer the "black boxes" to Ukraine, in the morning of January 14, as agreed earlier.
“This information can neither be confirmed nor disproved now because we are contacting the representatives of Iran. They are now saying that their expert, as promised, will not arrive today, January 15, but this issue is being resolved. Therefore, we had yesterday a decision was made and a second request for legal assistance to Iran was prepared with a request to provide us with access to the "black boxes" and to decide on the possibility of their decryption by our experts. The answer has not yet been received," she said
Chyzh noted that in this request, the Ukrainian side also asks the Iranian side to provide it with access to things that may be evidence in criminal proceedings, for example, aircraft parts, seats and the like.
As we reported earlier, Cabinet of Ministers has allocated 8,3 thousand dollars to each of the families of those who died in the Boeing 737 crash in Tehran.
