Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko stated that only 35% of cases of coronavirus infection were observed in Ukraine, so the number of infected people could reach 150,000. He said this in an interview with the BBC.
"There is no country in the world where 100% of all patients are diagnosed. A WHO study has shown that countries register an average of 25-40% of patients... We showed our analysis in a presentation made together with the Kyiv School of Economics. On average - we observe about 35% of patients," Lyashko said.
When he was asked by a journalist whether there could actually be 150,000 patients infected with Covid-19 in Ukraine, the chief sanitary doctor answered, "Yes, this is mathematical modeling that shows this."
As we reported earlier, the number of people infected with coronavirus in Ukraine is now exceeding 50,000.
Since the beginning of the pandemic in Ukraine, 1,306 people deceased from the consequences of the disease (+23 over the last 24 hours). 23,119 patients recovered (+926).
