Ukraine preparing for New Year: About 1500 law enforcers to guard celebration in capital

Kievans and guests of the capital are urged to be vigilant and pointed, pay attention to suspicious persons and left unattended packages

Kyiv Police will work in a strengthened mode on New Year's holidays. This was reported in the press service of the capital's administration of the National Police.

"In particular, on the New Year's Eve, about 1500 law enforcers will work, explosive technicians and cynologists will be on duty, and a situation center will be working in the headquarters of the police, which includes representatives of all law enforcement agencies," the report said.

Traditionally, most part of the police will be deployed in the center of Kyiv, near the main festive locations, as well as at New Year's trees in all areas of the city.

Kievans and guests of the capital are urged to be vigilant and pointed, pay attention to suspicious persons and left unattended packages.

We recall that in general in the country during the New Year holidays 10 thousand law enforcement will ensure the order. As already reported today, rescuing units have also moved to the enhanced mode of service.

On the night of Dec.31, the public transport of Ukraine’s capital is to work three hours longer, as head of the infrastructure department of the Kyiv city council Serhiy Symonov reminded on Facebook.

The Kyiv funicular will work all night long. Moreover, Khreschatyk will be open for traffic until the end of the holidays.
