Minister of Health of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov said that Ukraine has been provided with tests for detecting coronavirus for several months in advance. Stepanov announced this in an interview with Radio Liberty.
"We are provided with tests, I think, for several months in advance. And constantly, as soon as we have a need, they are immediately bought, fully provided with funds for the purchase of these tests," the minister said.
In addition, Stepanov noted that since the beginning of the pandemic, testing equipment has been significantly updated in Ukraine.
“I want to tell you that by the beginning of the pandemic, the last time we bought equipment to laboratory centers was in 2009... We have now practically completely updated the entire range of equipment required for testing, on the one hand. On the other hand, we continue to do so. And at the same time, we are teaching people to do exactly these tests. That is, we have a team of virologists who have continuously traveled through all regions without exception," he stressed.
As we reported before, in the event of a second wave of coronavirus in Ukraine, the authorities will not follow the scenario of a complete stop of the economy.
