Ukraine is already past the climax of the coronavirus pandemic. This was mentioned during the press conference of the workgroup that performs mathematic modeling of Covid-19-related issues in Ukraine. 

According to the scientists, the climax fell in the first week of May, when medics observed the average of 500 new cases every day.

"Currently, the peak is left behind, however, the fall of the curve of new cases of infection is quite soft, and we're witnessing the decrease of the daily rate", said Anatoliy Zahorodniy, the Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences.

The Academy workers also said that since May 10, the epidemic appears to be fading under a more optimistic scenario. It foresees that the number of infected people in Ukraine could exceed 29,000, and the number of lethal cases could reach 1,000.

According to Ukraine's Healthcare Ministry, as of early May 28, Ukraine had 22,282 cases of Covid-19, 669 of these had lethal outcome. Sixteen cases are observed in the Armed Forces.
