Ukraine introduces "priority hours" in stores for senior citizens,- Healthcare Minister

Changes to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, which introduce "priority hours" in shops for the elderly, came into effect. This was announced by the Minister of Health Maksym Stepanov, the press service of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine reports.

According to the minister, the allotted time for retirees in stores was introduced in order to reduce the number of Covid-19 cases among senior citizens.

“Elderly people are at risk. Therefore, it is important that they have as little contact with others as possible, because the percentage of fatalities is the highest among people over 65 years old. Priority hours are valid from 10:00 to 12:00. The initiative will last for quarantine period. I hope that all trade and service establishments will follow this," Stepanov said.

As we reported, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine made a decision to introduce the weekend quarantine all over the country. The strict quarantine will act from 00:00 a.m. Saturday until 00:00 a.m. Monday. On the weekend, only objects of the critical infrastructure, particularly, groceries, drug stores and transport will work in the country. The work of shopping malls, sports centers, fitness centers, swimming pools, theaters and holding of mass events is banned.
