Ukraine International Airlines will reduce 900 employees due to the coronavirus pandemic. The company has already suffered losses of 60 million dollars. This was announced by UIA spokesman Dmytro Doshyn, Telegram-channel Coronavirus in numbers reports.
He noted that one month of downtime cost the airline 14.5 million dollars, so UIA was forced to reduce its staff.
"The company's downtime and a significant reduction in the volume of the airline's work after the resumption of flights lead to a forced gradual reduction of about 900 UIA employees," Doshyn said.
As we reported earlier, Air France plans to cut 7,580 jobs, or 17.5% of its current workforce, over the next few years.
The company will shed 6,560 jobs by the end of 2022. Its subsidiary HOP!, a regional French operator, will cut 1,020 jobs over the next three years, nearly halving its workforce.
