The scheduled interval between the first and second injections of CoviShield vaccine in Ukraine has been increased from 28 to 90 days. Chief Sanitary Doctor Viktor Lyashko said so as quoted by RBC-Ukraine

The official explained that the analysis of clinical trials showed the vaccine's efficiency after the one-time standard dose made 76 percent. The level of anti-bodies remained almost the same during the period from 22nd to 90th day between the injections - with a minimal decrease.

When scientists upheld the strategy of immunization with a bigger gap between the injections, the efficiency of the vaccine grew to 81.3 percent after two standard doses, injected with a gap of 12 weeks or more.

Lyashko also added that such a move does not contradict the manufacturer instruction, as the document provides for a gap of 4-12 weeks.
