Ukraine currently does not have the necessary equipment to detect new strains of Covid-19. Mykhailo Radutsky, the head of the Parliamentary Committee for Public Health, Medical Assistance and Medical Insurance left the respective message on Facebook.
He claimed that on January 20, Ukraine's Public Healthcare Centre sent samples to the WHO lab in Germany. There has been no response yet.
"The situation with the spread of British and South African strains of the virus is extremely tense. We see that the EU closes borders and continues tough quarantine to beat the outbreaks of mutations of the virus. What worries us the most is that the efficiency of vaccination of patients with mutations of the virus proves to be lower than that among patients with traditional strains of Covid-19", Radutsky wrote.
Pfizer became the fourth company that filed its appeal to register its vaccine against coronavirus in Ukraine. Mykhailo Babenko, the director of State Expert Centre of Ukraine's Healthcare Ministry reported that in the commentary for Interfax-Ukraine agency.
"Today, Pfizer Manufacturing Belgium filed an appeal for state registration of Comirnaty vaccine, under the commitment for urgent medical use. The appeal was quickly registered and handed over to the State Expert Centre and to check registration materials", Babenko said.
