Ukraine has enough supplies of coal and gas for the population to survive the 2019-2020 heating season. Oleksiy Honcharuk, Ukraine's Prime Minister reported that on air of 1+1 TV channel.
"Ukraine is duly provided with gas, coal, all the necessary resources to survive this winter. This winter is absolutely not an issue because we took care and saw to it that nothing threatens Ukraine's power security in the near future", Honcharuk said.
He added that the trillateral gas talks on the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine. According to Honcharuk, Kyiv needs a long-term contract for ten years to enjoy enough volumes and ensure the energy security in Europe.
The current gas transit deal with Russia expires on December 31, 2019. December 13 is the deadline for the signature of the new deal so that it could start working on January 1, 2020.
