Ukraine gets first batch of Pfizer vaccine

Ukraine has received the first batch of Pfizer vaccine; the cargo includes 117,000 doses. Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko reported that on Friday.

"Within this first batch, Ukraine received 117,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine. Next, we expect 950,000 doses; in general, [we hope for] 8,000,000 doses", he said.

The first vaccinations with this vaccine will take place on April 18; the patients will be people in elderly care homes.

As we reported, the vaccination process of the population against coronavirus with the Chinese CoronaVac vaccine produced by Sinovac Biotech kicked off on April 13. Health Minister Maksym Stepanov noted that the CoronaVac vaccine will be used for the vaccination of particular groups of population: police officers, people with limited mobility (people with disabilities) who cannot come to the vaccination center and their guardians, the Olympians and Paralympians and teachers who participate in the external independent evaluation.
