As of July 12, there is only three percent out of entire contracted amount of Pfizer vaccine in Ukraine. Tetyana Korotchenko, the head of the mission of Crown Agents company in Ukraine said so on Monday in the interview with Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
According to her, the vaccine comes to Ukraine in small batches, as the supply is complicated in terms of logistics.
"There haven't been such vaccines in Ukraine yet. It demands a specific temperature mode of delivery: 70 degrees below zero by Celsius. There are certain instructions on supplies directly from the manufacturer, which Crown Agents lives up to in full extent", she said.
Currently, Ukraine has 601,000 doses of this vaccine supplied. By the end of the year, the number is supposed to be 20 million doses.
"We bring this vaccine since last December, taking it to the British government. This is why we can say that the mechanism of bringing the vaccine in small amounts is economically profitable: we brought it and got the peopel vaccinated, and then we bring the next batch. Bringing a lot of vaccine at a time and storing it in the fridge is expensive", Korotchenko said.
Previously, media claimed that Pfizer is about to state the necessity for the third shot of the drug against coronavirus. The studies showed that the booster dose increases titles of anti-bodies by 5-10 times.
