Ukraine today, December 12, marks the Day of the Ground Forces.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko sent a congratulatory address on the occasion, noting that the Armed Forces continue to strengthen its military power and strength.
"This contributes to the consistent delivery of modern weapons and equipment, the introduction of new combat elements, proven in training for all categories of personnel," Poroshenko said.
The President noted that patriotism, professionalism, endurance, reliability and readiness to perform the most difficult tasks on the battlefield have become the norm of performance for the Ground Forces.
"I give my gratitude to all the soldiers, workers and veterans of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for their devotion to duty and Motherland. I am convinced that you will continue to firmly stand guard over the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine", reads the congratulation.
Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman also congratulated the military personnel.
The holiday was established in Ukraine "considering the merits of the Ground Forces of Ukraine as the most numerous unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in ensuring the national defense" according to the Decree of President of Ukraine from October 18, 1997.
