Ukraine’s State Agency of Water Resources informed the National Security and Defense Council about the possibility of water shortages in the basins of some rivers. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov noted that the probability of water shortage would require optimizing the use of water resources and sparing consumption of water. This was reported by the press service of the National Security and Defense Council.
"According to the State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine, the last five years have been shallow and there is a possibility of water shortages in some river basins,” the message reads.
According to Danilov, it is important to conduct a full inventory of groundwater sources of drinking quality and artesian wells in order to involve them in water supply systems.
As we reported earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal stated that the Government of Ukraine cannot supply water to Crimea annexed by Russia until its de-occupation and return to Ukraine.
