Chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine, Viktor Lyashko, said that Ukraine has been on the ‘plateau’ stage for the 20th day since the spread of the coronavirus infection Covid-19. Lyashko said this on the program "Freedom of Speech", as RBC news agency reports.
According to the country's chief sanitary doctor, the number of new infections per day varies daily from 350 to 550.
"We have reached a certain plateau. And now this particular plateau is ‘lulling’, since we are already the 20th day in the range of 350-550 cases per day," Lyashko said.
He also noted that if quarantine is completely lifted on May 11, Ukraine may receive outbreaks of coronavirus in summer and autumn.
“If we cancel the quarantine on May 11, we can see an outbreak in the summer, because there can be a seasonality factor. But what we see in the autumn will give us what we managed to prevent in the spring. Therefore, the issue of phasing out of quarantine is all done for the benefit of Ukrainians," he added.
As we reported before, Healthare Ministry's estimates show that without quarantine in Ukraine, 220-240,000 citizens could get coronavirus.
