The United Kingdom starts a mass vaccination of the population from the coronavirus by AstraZeneca vaccine, as the National Health Service (NHS) of the UK reported.

It is noted that this week, over 100 new places of the vaccination will appear.

First, two hospitals in London, a hospital in the south and a hospital in the north of England, a hospital in the Midlands, and one Oxford hospital will receive the vaccine.

Prime Minister of the UK Boris Johnson noted that the vaccination by AstraZeneca vaccine is the major breakthrough of British science.

“The Oxford vaccine is a triumph of British science and I want to thank everyone involved in its development and production,” Johnson noted.

On December 23, 2020, AstraZeneca Company filed a set of documents for the registration of the vaccine against Covid-19. AZD1222 vaccine against Covid-19 produced by the Oxford University and AstraZeneca Company showed 70% efficacy.

However, on December 30, the EMA (European Medicines Authority) stated it would not be able to approve the vaccine against Covid-19 developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University in January.
