A highly contagious Covid-19 mutation, originally identified in the UK, has also been reported in Germany and Switzerland, Blick informs.
In Germany, a new virus strain was discovered in the federal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg.
"It is the first known case in Germany," the health ministry of Baden-Wuerttemberg state said in a statement.
The woman had arrived in Frankfurt airport on December 20 from London Heathrow.
She was driven home by her relatives into quarantine after testing positive for Covid-19 on arrival at the airport.
In addition, the British mutation is also circulating in Switzerland. By the way, many Britons have visited the Swiss ski area.
"In Switzerland, a new variant from the UK has been identified for the first time in two samples," the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) announced in a press release.
It is noted that people infected with the new variant of the coronavirus live in the UK however they tested positive for the virus in Switzerland.
