Two-year-old boy dies from measles in Lviv

A two-year-old boy deceased because of the complications caused by measles. The deadly case was obsered in Lviv, western Ukraine. Oleg Kogut, the deputy director of the Lab Centre of the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine said this as quoted by

The report says that the boy got infected, as his mother fell sick first. He was not vaccinated against measles.

'Two children got infected through their mother. Measles was tough for both of them', Kogut explained. 

According to him, the boy sustained a number of complications that emerged due to the infection. The medics could not save him.

"He suffered from encephalitis, damage to the central nervous system and breathing system, pneumonia, heavy hepatitis, myocarditis. The brain was not functioning', said Viktor Tokarev, the chief medical officer of intensive care unit at Lviv regional infectious hospital.

Another boy, the older son of the same mother was treated in the same hospital unit. His life is beyond the danger now, so doctors discharged him. 

Recently, 112 International reported that a nine-year-old girl died from measles in Rivne region, northern Ukraine.
