Two people died in car accident in Zaporizhia region

A driver lost control over his car and ran into the power line support structure in Zaporizhia region. The accident led to the death of the driver and his passenger, reports the press office of the National Police. 

According to the police, the car accident occurred at about 2 a.m. Saturday on Lomonosov street in the southeastern town of Melitopol.

A group of investigators from the Police Department, personnel of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and medics arrived at the scene.  

The investigation established that the driver lost control over the car, drove out of the carriageway and ran into street light stanchion pole. Then, the car turned over and damaged the fence of a private property. 

The driver of the car, a resident of Melitopol died from injuries on the spot. Three passengers of the vehicle were taken to the hospital. A man born in 1994 died of injuries in a hospital; a woman born in 1998 and a man born in 1994 with injuries of various severity are now getting treated at a hospital, too. 

A criminal proceeding was initiated for the violation of traffic safety regulations. The pre-trial investigation is underway.
