Employees of the SBU, Ukraine's state security service detained two residents of Novohrad-Volynsky, northwestern Ukraine. The malefactors stole weapons and ammunition from a military unit in order to smuggle them, the SBU reported on Facebook.

The men searched for customers among the people they knew and the representatives of local criminal gangs.

The law enforcers took the culprits in as they tried to sell two assault rifles and clips to them, a handgun with rounds to it and a silencer. They counted on getting USD 2,400 for the goods.

One of the men tried resisting the arrest but failed.

As the SBU searched the arms cache located in the woods next to the town, they found another two assault rifles, three handguns, silencers and rounds of various calibers.

The detainees who appeared to be judged before will face justice again; they are in custody now, as the court chooses the pre-trial restriction measure.
