The Security Service of Ukraine (the SBU) banned two British athletes Gary Hunt and Blake Aldridge from coming to Ukraine, as they had participated in a competition in the occupied Crimea, SBU spokesperson Olena Hitlanska said, according to Interfax-Ukraine.

“On September 25, they are banned from entering the country for five years. The grounds of the ban – harm to Ukraine’s national interests,” she said.

The athletes came to Crimea to participate in Freerate Cliff Diving World Cup, held on August 25, 2017 in Simeiz, as well as phrased their opinion on sancions.

As Ukraine doesn't recognize the annexation of Crimea, the individuals who go there not through Ukrainian territory are breaking the Ukrainian laws, due to which they can be banned from enetering the country.
