Ukraine is testing a new self-propelled howitzer called Bohdana. Oleksandr Turchynov, Secretary Council of the National Security and Defense of Ukraine claimed this, as the press office of the agency reports.
‘Its main features are the high mobility, accuracy, long firing range and the highest firing pace,’ he claimed having added that the howitzer can destroy targets from a distance up to 60km with special ammo.
Turchynov stressed that the brand new self-propelled howitzer has a 150mm NATO caliber. Neither the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Soviet Union Army nor current Russian Army had a weapon with such a caliber,’ he said.
Yet Turchynov added that the cannon guidance system, as well as the technology of its development at the Ukrainian defense facilities, corresponds to the NATO standards.

Jurii Biriukov added on his page that Bohdana is on wheelbase. The cannon has a loading gun for six shots. It can be guided remotely.
Bohdana, self-propelled howitzer was first mentioned on July 14, 2014. Serhii Zhurets, Military Expert claimed that the equipment will be first showed the public at the military parade dedicated to Ukrainian Independence Day on August 24, 2018.
Stepan Poltorak told the reporters at the rehearsal to the 27th anniversary of the Ukrainian Independence that a decision on adopting the 155mm gun will be adopted today.
Reportedly, this year, 4.5 servicemen and 250 equipment units will participate at the 27th parade for the anniversary of the Ukrainian Independence.
