Due to the fact that most of the members of the Presidium of the Coordination Council of Belarus have left the country or were arrested, new people may be elected to its composition. This opinion was expressed by the former presidential candidate in Belarus and opposition leader Svetlana Tsikhanouskaya, in an interview with Tut.by.
“Few people have remained at large from the presidium, but no one is applying for resignation from the members of the Coordination Council. We are discussing how we will work further. Perhaps a new presidium will be elected,” Tsikhanouskaya said.
She does not exclude ruke out that protests may take new forms, and this is already happening. "However, now the majority go to rallies, because they are outraged by the torture. The authorities' atrocities against the demonstrators angered people even more, convinced them that it was necessary to fight this", Tsikhanouskaya stressed.
Today only one member of the Presidium of the Coordination Council remains at large in Belarus; it is Svetlana Aleksievich.
