Tsikhanouskaya announces global rally of solidarity with Belarus on May 29

Svetlana Tsikhanouskaya, the leader of the Belarusian opposition claimed that the global rally of solidarity with Belarus will take place worldwide on May 29. Tsikhanouskaya posted that on her Telegram channel.

According to the opposition figure, the event is supposed to involve politicians, residents of various countries, and diaspora representatives.

"We announced May 29, the date of Sergei Tsikhanousky's detention, the day of solidarity. The Global Rally of Solidarity with Belarus will take palce this day. Politicians, residents of various countries, and diaspora will participate in it. But the main thing is for Belarusians to support each other on this day in the country - by all possible means: street rallies, symbols, letters to political prisoners", Tsikhanouskaya wrote.

Sergei Tsikhanousky, Svitlana's husband and potential opposition candidate was arrested in late May 2020. Later, another opposition figure Viktor Babariko was taken in, too. Belarusian Central Election Committee refused to register another alternative candidate, Valeriy Tsepkalo. Eventually, Tsikhanouskaya was chosen as the only candidate from opposition forces.
