An attempt to try to seize a temple took place in Chernivtsi region, western Ukraine. Press service of the National Police reported that.

The police reported about an attempt to seize a temple in the village of Tovtry May 18. According to the law enforcement officers, representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church have received permits, thanks to which they have the right to use property. Thus, they allegedly tried to seize the temple.

Law enforcement officers verify the legality of changes in the organizational and canonical subordination of the religious organization of the village. They provide security on the territory of the church.
Earlier, another attempt to seize the temple of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) by representatives of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) occurred in Vinnytsia region. This is reported by Strana.ua with reference to the press service of the UOC Vinnytsia Diocese.

According to the report, on the evening of March 15, supporters of the UOC poured locks on the doors of the Spaso-Preobrazhenska Church with resin to prevent the Divine Liturgy scheduled for Saturday morning. However, the parishioners broke the locks and spent the whole night in the building.

On Saturday morning, the UOC supporters closed the parishioners of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church inside the temple and blocked the entrance to prevent the holding of the service. The standoff lasted more than four hours, people to defend the temple. Archbishop Varsonofiy performed a liturgy, together with hundreds of believers in the village.
