So, the presidential cortege drove through the blocked street. The President waved at supporters from the back of an SUV but did not leave the car. He was wearing a medical mask, as were the people who were sitting with him in the car.
In a video he tweeted before his brief ride-around, Mr. Trump said he's now "learned a lot about Covid."
"I learned it by really going to school," Mr. Trump said. "This is the real school, this isn't the 'let's read the books school,' and I get it, I understand it. And it's a very interesting thing and I'm going to be letting you know about it."
As we reported, US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania have become infected with the coronavirus.
"Tonight Melania and I tested positive for Covid-19. We will immediately begin the quarantine and recovery process. We will overcome this together," the president wrote on his twitter page.
Later, Trump arrived at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland for treatment.
