The work of surface and underground transport was restricted in Kyiv from April 5. Only citizens with a special permit can use the metro and routed taxis; while officers of the National Guard and municipal guard are on watch near the metro stations as the correspondent of Pershiy Nezalezhniy reported.
According to the journalists, not many people observed at Kyiv stops. The routed taxi transport only 50% of passengers from the total occupancy level. Both, drives of routed taxis and members of the municipal guard check the special permits.
However, the correspondent noted that Kyiv citizens can use suburban trains with no restrictions.
The citizens reacted negatively to the closing of metro. Some people cannot reach work or other destinations.
“It is very bad. I have to reach Minska station. How? I do not have a special permit,” Kyiv citizen said.
Amid the transport lockdown, the taxi services in Kyiv have significantly increased prices. It costs 400 hryvnia ($14.41) to reach the left bank from Podil. The services ask 500-700 hryvnia ($18-25) for a trip from Poznyaky to Podil.
Besides, traffic jams occurred in Kyiv in the morning. Mostly, the movement is restricted to downtown. Transport stays at the bridges and central avenues.
As we reported, stricter lockdown was introduced in the capital. From Monday, April 5, kindergartens and schools are closed, transport operate in the mode of special transportation. However, state power bodies specified that it is not planned to introduce all-national quarantine.
