The traditional Transgender March, organized by the public organizations Kyivpride and Cohorta, took place in Kyiv. During the march, several people tried to attack its participants, Suspilne reports.
The event was attended by approximately 150 people. Public order was monitored by more than 400 representatives of the police, the National Guard, the patrol police, the police of the dialogue. There was also a rapid response squad and public observers.
In addition, about 200 opponents of the march gathered on Mykhailivska Square, including, in particular, representatives of the right-wing radical organization Traditions and Order. From there, participants of the Trans-March moved to the European Square. During the march, several people tried to attack the participants of the event, but the police promptly detained them.
The Trans March this year is linked to May 25, 2019, when the World Health Organization removed 11 transgender diagnoses from the mental health category. The organizers recalled that the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) comes into force at the global level from the beginning of next year, but they are convinced that until the states take concrete steps to implement it, such an entry remains rather symbolic.
