Tragedy at firing range in Rivne region: Poroshenko temporarily bans use of Molot mortars

Molot mortars will not be used during military drills across Ukraine until the tragedy in Rivne region is investigated. President Petro Poroshenko signed the respective decree and charged the Defense Ministry and the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces to figure out the reasons of the tragedy immediately. Poroshenko said this during his speech, which he made on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Factory 410 of Civilian Aviation in Kyiv.

Poroshenko paid tribute to the deceased with the moment of silence. 

As 112 International reported earlier, a dreadful incident occurred in Rivne region, northern Ukraine, with three Ukrainian army servicemen killed and nine more wounded. According to Ivan Arefyev, the head of the press center of the Armed Forces HQ, the accident occurred at about 6 a.m. The tragedy occurred during the tactical exercise on the firing range in Rivne region, where three soldiers deceased and nine suffered wounds of various degrees of severity.

Later, the Defense Ministry specified that the death toll climbed to four. The authority confirmed that the reason was the violation of safety measures. According to Hennadiy Moskal, Zakarpattia region governor, the deceased men served with the 128th Detached Mountain Infantry Brigade; another four sustained wounds, he said.
