This year, a tourist flow in Spain has decreased by 97.7 percent in comparison with summer 2019. The reason is the ongoing pandemic of coronavirus (Covid-19). The Spanish National Statistics Institute reported this on August 4.
Besides, the overall volume of expenses of foreign tourists who visited Spain in July decreased by 98.6 percent, if compared with July 2019. Over the first six months of 2020, 10.8 million tourists visited Spain, which is 71.7 percent less than during the same period in 2019. The most popular destinations were Barcelona, Valencia, and the Balearic Islands.
Catalunya previously resumed some of the quarantine restrictions, as the second wave of Covid-19 hit the country.
As of August 4, Spanish medics have confirmed over 344,000 cases of Covid-19. 28,472 people passed away since the epidemic reached the country.
Earlier, the WHO claimed that less than 10 percent of the world's population have got sick and recovered with Covid-19.
