Tough precipitations in Ivano-Frankivsk region cause floods in 165 localities

Floods overwhelm civilian infrastructure in 15 districts of Ivano-Frankivsk region. 165 inhabited localities are flooded. Svitlana Babushkina, the press secretary of State Emergency Service in this region told this to 112 Ukraine TV channel.

According to her, floods damaged 4,596 living houses, six obstetrical points and one automatic station, 8,873 farmlands, 3,000 basements, more than 3,000 hectares of agricultural land. 110 kilometers of roadways and 90 bridges were destroyed. 285 people were evacuated. 1,850 coast defences were destroyed.

Babushkina claimed that 1,099 staff and 255 vehicles reached the flooded areas fo search and rescue operations.

Earlier, we reported that heavy precipitations occur in Ukraine's western regions of Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi. Weather forecast specialists announced red alert because of the upcoming heavy rains in these areas, Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported.

Serhy Osachuk, the head of Chernivtsi regional state administration warned the citizens that the water level in Prut river is about to increase up to six meters high. In other mountain rivers in Ivano-Frankivsk region, the water levels increased up to two meters.
