Ukraine's Health Minister Maksym Stepanov announced that weekend quarantine and winter lockdown helped to bring down Covid-19 wave. The minister announced this at a briefing.

"You see that the number of people who get sick drops every day. We have achieved a serious stabilization. We were able to achieve and have achieved - we managed to bring down the wave of Covid-19 spread at the initial stage, which was potentially supposed to begin after the New Year holidays," he stated.

According to the minister, a full assessment of the effectiveness of quarantine restrictions can be given only after the end of tough restrictions.

As we reported earlier, over the last 24 hours, Ukrainian doctors confirmed 5,348 new cases of Covid-19, including 245 children and 369 healthcare workers. 

1,900 people have been taken to hospitals during this period; 163 patients deceased, and 14,239 recovered. 43,593 tests have been taken.

Most of the confirmed cases have been observed in Kyiv city (507), Dnipropetrovsk (414), Lviv (370), Zaporizhzhia (350), Kyiv (313), regions.

1,182,969 people have got sick since the pandemic began in Ukraine, 928,969 recovered.
