Google Ukraine released the most popular requests of Ukrainian users in 2020. It's a top request of the year - but not in terms of numbers, but by the increasing popularity. In other words, these are rankings where the requests gained popularity the quickest; they show a spike of interest of users towards events, people, topics, and issues.
In the passing year, Ukrainians were most obsessed with issues related to Covid-19. "Coronavirus" became the most popular search request in Google Ukraine. The top ten also includes "Coronavirus recommendations", "Coronavirus symptoms" and "quarantine in Ukraine". Besides, as the pandemic carries on, a lot of people get more and more interested in remote forms of education with the use of gadgets and computer software. People searched a lot for Google classroom and Zoom, the video conference app. Ukrainians also got increasingly interested in a local education project called "To the lesson", developed for primary and secondary schools.
Besides, Ukrainian users also were quite interested in the U.S. presidential election, TV show Kholostyachka (Bachelor Lady), and holidays in 2020.
When it came to celebrities, Ukrainians most actively searched for Russian opposition figure Aleksei Navalny, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko, and U.S. president-elect Joe Biden.
Searching for those who passed away in 2020, Ukrainians were mostly interested in Russian actor Boris Kluyev, American basketball legend Kobe Bryant and Ukrainian comic Mykhaylo Zhvanetsky.
The most searched items for purchase were medical masks, pulse oximeters, respirator masks, and anti-septic liquids. iPhone 12 ended up on that list, too.
